House fire in Maketu

Emergency services are at a house fire in Maketu.

Volunteer crews from Maketu and Te Puke are at a Maketu Rd home, putting out a house fire.

Crew were called to the home about 10.10am today.

A fire communications spokesperson said the fire appeared to be in the roof and fire fighters were using hoses to shoot water onto the roof and "dampen down the hot spots". 

There was no one at home when the fire started.

Police are trying to get in touch with the home owner to tell them the news, the fire service spokesperson said.
