The Bay of Plenty District Health Board has been given the green light to finalise the design of a $65 million redevelopment of Whakatane Hospital. Health Minister Tony Ryall made the announcement while visiting the hospital yesterday.
Site preparations are due to begin in summer. "In the short term, it's expected there will be 20 to 30 local jobs created with as many as 80 jobs when the project is at its peak," Mr Ryall said.
