Harbour Bridge fishers to go

Tauranga Harbour Bridge.

The New Zealand Transport Agency is working on a bylaw to make it illegal to fish off the Tauranga Harbour Bridge.

The bridge is not included in the 1977 Bylaw Fishing from Bridges, therefore fishing from the bridge along State Highway 2, is not illegal, the agency said.

Anglers who fish off the bridge are reminded to remove rubbish when they leave, with numerous alcohol cans found there.

If people are concerned about litter along the harbour bridge walkways, they should contact the agency.
