The Tauranga Emergency Communications Group has received the keys to a Ford Transit van that they will fit out and use in future search and rescue operations in the area.

Don Spackman TECG Section Leader and Brian Heywood, the organisations' president, received the keys from Jim Low of Farmer Autovillage last week.

The vehicle could be purchased thanks to sponsorship from Farmer Autovillage and additional funding from the TECT Trust.

When fitted out with radios, benches and additional equipment, the vehicle will assist the group to rapidly deploy communication systems for search and rescue operations.
