A local fire chief who attended a T-bone crash on Tuesday said it was "amazingly lucky" the high-school girl and her mother walked away uninjured.
The two were travelling out of Pongakawa Station Rd in when they were in collision with an SUV at 8am.
The two female drivers and the girl were taken to Tauranga Hospital to be checked over but appeared uninjured, Pukehina fire chief Errol Watts said.
"It appears a car pulled out and got hit at 90km/h right in the passenger side," he said.
"The high-school girl sitting on that side was amazingly lucky."
