A girl believes three men who attempted to steal her fathers car pulled a gun on her.

A 15-year-old Merivale girl believes she had a gun pulled on her by three men as she tried to stop them stealing her father's car.

The girl told police the three men broke into her father's silver Mercedes-Benz on Fraser St.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said the girl claimed the men pulled a gun on her before fleeing the scene in a white sedan.

"They've broken into the Mercedes motor car and when challenged by the owner's daughter they've pointed a gun at her, and [then] they've decamped.

"She heard them [breaking into the car] and challenged them verbally from a window in the dwelling.

"It's unknown if anything has been stolen," he said.

After calling out to the trio, the girl ducked below the window when the gun was pulled on her.

The three men have been described as a large Maori with a bald head and two smaller Pakeha men in their mid-twenties.
