Take care of roses

Unless it's raining frequently, you'll need to start watering your roses. Keep the water off the foliage to prevent pests and diseases.

Watch for bugs

Get in a supply of your choice of bug spray - chemical or organic - and keep a close watch on the tender new leaves of your spring vegetables. Spray pip and stone fruit for blight at bud burst.

Indoor activity

Indoor plants could do with a boost right now, so remove dead and damaged leaves, add soil or re-pot if necessary, and give them a feed of good liquid fertiliser.

Golden oldies

Get on the bandwagon and put in some old-fashioned plants for prettiness and colour. Rediscover fuchsias, pelargoniums and daisies and plant in sunny positions.
