Funds bid for central city tertiary campus

A business case requesting $15 million from the Bay of Plenty Regional Council's infrastructure fund has been lodged by a group seeking to establish a central city tertiary campus in Tauranga.

The Bay of Plenty Partnership, a collaboration between the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, University of Waikato and Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi, proposes to develop the campus in three phases over 15 years.

The full cost of the project would be about $67.3 million, of which more than half would come from the tertiary partners.
