Florists are being asked to avoid using kiwifruit plant material in bouquets amid fears it may be contributing to the spread of Psa-V.

Kiwifruit Vine Health said there is a very real risk of the disease being spread by way of plant material movements if used in floral arrangements.

The organisation has spoken to relevant floral industry associations to advise them of the potentially serious risk and will continue to do so.

Growers are encouraged to also reinforce this message to local florists.
