Plastic bags, rags and fat were the main culprits responsible for causing sewer blockages in Tauranga last week.

Tauranga City Council responded to four blockages, including one at the Tauranga District Court believed to be caused by a damaged connection.

A blockage off Onyx Way and Harrisfield St occurred in a horse paddock before and another off Sutherland Rd by the Judea rugby grounds area were caused by a collection of plastic bags, rags, fat and debris.

The fourth blockage was off Shearson St and Monmouth St where a cable duct had damaged the connection.

None were reported as reaching any waterway.
