Police and a member of missing woman Michelle Hoffman-Tamm's family spoke today at a press conference about Ms Hoffman-Tamm's disappearance.

Detective Senior Sergeant Zane Smith of the Rotorua CIB and Ms Hoffman-Tamm's sister Jan Donlan spoke at the conference.

Mr Smith said there had been some sightings of Ms Hoffman-Tamm but they were still unconfirmed.

Ms Donlan said the disappearance was out of character.

Ms Hoffman-Tamm has been described by her sister as a generous person who loves helping people.

She said Ms Hoffman-Tamm spent the afternoon at her house before her disappearance.

She went home for a short while before leaving and hasn't been seen since.

Ms Donlan said the family was holding up okay.

"We miss you, we love you."
