DVD Review: Wanderlust (+trailer)

Wanderlust is an entertaining comedy
Wanderlust is an entertaining comedy

We've all had moments when we want to run away and leave the civilised world behind us.

How blissful to join a hippie-greenie commune where your biggest problems are how much sleep to enjoy and how to fill your days doing very little.

Sounds appealing, right?

George (Paul Rudd) and Linda (Jennifer Aniston) are a stressed-out Manhattan couple with many more problems than fun elements in their lives.

When unemployment and financial problems force them to leave the city and take a dubious sanctuary with George's obnoxious brother, all is not well.

En route to Atlanta, fate sees them end up at Elysium, a hippie colony that's all about peace and love.

Full of quirky individuals, George and Linda initially think they've fallen off the planet into an alternate universe.

But there is something appealing about their peaceful existence that begins to grow on the couple. Despite some misgivings, they decide to stay on and recharge their batteries.

Ultimately, George and Linda are forced to reassess their lives and their relationship.

If they want to stay on at Elysium, they will need to embrace its ways completely and they must know if their relationship is strong enough to withstand that.

The portrayal of life at Elysium is a lot of fun and the weird and wonderful ensemble of members makes for an entertaining comedy.
