DVD Review: My week with Marilyn (+trailer)

Michelle Williams is very convincing as the young starlet.

Sitting down with My Week With Marilyn I didn't expect to be as entertained as I was.

And I came away with a wonderful insight into Marilyn Monroe and what her life must have been like.

Set in the summer of 1956, My Week With Marilyn tells the story of the Hollywood starlet's visit to England to film The Prince and the Showgirl with, and under the direction of, the great Sir Laurence Olivier.

Marilyn, played with great aplomb by Oscar-nominated Michelle Williams, was every bit the flighty glamour-girl and soon got under Olivier's conservative skin.

She was temperamental, difficult and always late for filming.

Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) was a young man who wasn't going to let anything stop him from fulfilling his dream to be in movies.

When he wins a small job in Olivier's production he is put into Marilyn's world.

The next seven days prove to be the most magical in Colin's life. He finds a way to win Marilyn over and provide the confidence and support she craves after her husband - playwright Arthur Miller - is forced to leave England to return to his work in the United States.

Marilyn is a mess and needs a supportive shoulder to cry on.

In the private time she spends with Colin we see a glimpse of the fragility that marked her life.

Prepared to be entertained by the one and only Marilyn Monroe.
