Turners Logistics has been chosen as Employer of the Year by the Bay of Plenty Regional Employer Support Committee (the regional support committee of the Territorial Forces Employer Support Council_TFESC).

Private Steven Smith of 6 Hauraki Battalion nominated his employer, Turners Logistics, to acknowledge its continued support for military training activities and his deployment to Antarctica during January and February 2012.

The award was established to recognise the contribution employers make by allowing staff to train and serve as servists for the New Zealand Defence Force.

Private Smith and representatives of Turners Logistics will attend the national final of the TFESC function with other regional winners in Wellington next year.

Staff from Mount Maunganui-based Garth Mathieson Lawyer will also be recognised.

Lieutenant Garth Mathieson, RNZNVR, a Navy reservist based at the Tauranga Unit of HMNZS Ngapona, nominated his employees, Cindy Butler and Marie Sperling, for a certificate of appreciation to recognise the support his staff  provide his business when he is away with the Navy.

Strongline Buildings, nominated by Lance Corporal Ralph McLeay and Tower Scaffolding, nominated by Private Albert Craig, will also receive certificates of appreciation.
