Cyclist dies after being hit by truck

A cyclist died after being struck by a passing truck north of Taupo yesterday.

Taupo police responded to the crash shortly before 10am on Poihipi Road in a rural area north of the township.

The female rider who was in a group of cyclists received fatal injuries.

Police said they were still working with witnesses in identifying the causes of the crash.
