A car collision at Mount Maunganui has stalled one of the region's busiest arterial routes this morning.

The crash, believed to have involved a concrete truck, occurred about 7.35am on Maunganui Rd near Hewletts Rd.

Police Senior Sergeant Rob Glencross said there were issues with traffic building up in the area but it was understood no one was hurt.

Traffic is down to one lane while emergency services work to clear the scene.
