Charges laid in Te Puna Rd attack on family

A brother and sister and two other Tauranga men charged in the relation to their alleged violent attack on a Te Puna Road family last month appeared in Tauranga court this morning.

Derek Michael Drewery, 26, of Judea, Jack Simon Ake, 51, from Te Puna, Rihari Jarrod Borrell, 21, and his sister Jasmine Hira Borrell, 24, both from Welcome Bay, are jointly charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to two male complainants.

The four defendants were remanded on bail without pleas when they briefly appeared in Tauranga Registrar Court this morning and are due back in court on December 21.

All four are subject to strict bail terms which include nightly curfews, a ban on entering Te Puna Rd or going to a particular in Te Puna Rd address and having any contact with the two complainants.
