The Daily Post to become a morning compact paper

It's on.

From March 11 next year your weekday newspaper will have a bold new look - at a new time.

The Monday to Friday editions of The Daily Post will convert to a compact format.

Your big weekend read, the Saturday edition of The Daily Post, will remain a broadsheet size, but we'll have some exciting changes for you there as well.

The new-look weekday paper will be convenient and easy-to-read and follows a worldwide newspaper trend of
offering readers something new and exciting. Our sister newspaper, the New Zealand Herald, successfully changed to compact in September.

International research shows that readers prefer the compact size and the thicker newspaper means you will still  be getting your money's worth. The paper will look and feel different. Right now we have a team of designers and journalists working on this project. We are looking at everything from our masthead to our content and the end product will be fresh and exciting.

And not only are we changing shape, we're coming to you earlier.

Following the international and national trend, from March 11 The Daily Post will become a morning newspaper.

You'll be able to start your day with the latest local, national and international news, sport, features and opinions _ with a heavy emphasis on the "local''.

As a morning newspaper we'll be setting the local news agenda daily, while our advertisers will benefit as the paper is out for a full day.

Online, you have already seen our fresh, new look after our recent site revamp. We'll continue to bring you the latest breaking news as well as videos, polls, photo galleries and more.

We have begun a process of consulting our readers, advertisers and staff to make sure that we produce the best possible newspapers. We want to know what you want to see in your new-look The Daily Post. Please email us at feedback@dailypost.co.nz with your thoughts.
