Challenge set for Bay cheesemakers

Two Western Bay of Plenty cheesemakers will battle it out among the best in their craft this month, at the 10th annual NZ Champions of Cheese Awards.

Mt Eliza Cheese from Katikati and Homecraft Cheese from Waihi Beach will take centrestage at the 2013 awards at The Langham in Auckland on February 24.

There are 413 entries from 59 different cheese companies, including six first-time entrants and a larger number of smaller artisan companies.

Award winners will be announced at a gala dinner at The Langham in Auckland on Tuesday, February 26, with a public sample and purchase Cuisine CheeseFest to be held the following day.
