Two Tauranga men have been charged with burglary after a smash and grab break-in at store in Grey St earlier this morning.

Tauranga police Sergeant Steve Hindmarsh said a man was captured on CCTV security camera footage about 12.45am throwing a manhole cover at the front window at Budget Mobiles and Computers store, and several cellphones were taken before he and his male associate ran off.

Mr Hindmarsh said the two men aged 30 and 34 were arrested a few minutes later nearby, and the stolen items were recovered.

The two arrested men have been bailed to appear in Tauranga Registrar's Court on Monday, he said.
