Car plunges down bank

An adult and two infants are lucky to be alive after their car skidded off the road and plunged down a bank.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Minden Rd, Te Puna about 12.30pm today.

The occupants were all out of the BMW by the time ambulance and police staff arrived.

Constable Ian Sadler said it appeared the driver had lost control on a corner and slid off the road and down the bank.

The occupants were being assessed by St John staff at the scene.
