A car was totally burnt out after it caught alight on a Pyes Pa orchard.

Tauranga Fire Brigade were called to Joyce Rd about 5.15pm yesterday.

Senior station officer Mark Keller said a man was driving his car through the orchard when it caught fire.

He said the blaze was most likely caused by a chainsaw in the boot of the car.

``The car was totally burnt out by the time we got there. The man had managed to get himself out and he wasn't hurt.''
