A motorbike and a car have collided on Oropi Rd, near Maleme St.

Emergency services are at the scene of the accident, which happened just after 4pm.

Western Bay of Plenty head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the accident didn't appear to be major.

He said the male motorcyclist didn't appear to be seriously injured.

"I believe he was up and about and talking," Mr Campion said.

The car appeared to have pulled out of Maleme St and into the path of the motorbike, which was travelling on Oropi Rd, towards Tauranga.

The motorcyclist was checked at the scene by St John.

He did not need to be taken to Tauranga Hospital.
