Call to police after suspicious behaviour

Police are searching for a man who tried to convince a woman to get into his car this morning.

Tauranga police acting Senior Sergeant Simone Mills said a suspicious man stopped his car near the intersection of
Devonport Rd and 17th Ave and asked a woman to jump in his car about 11.45am.

The woman walked away from the man and called police.

"There was nil harm, nil found. Just that dodgy element," Ms Mills said.

She urged people to be wary about who was around and call the police if they had concerns about suspicious behaviour.

It was important to take down car registration numbers so police had something to follow up, she said.
