Over  the past year Brian and Michelle Gray have poured their hearts and souls into Bella Vista Lodge, sitting on a hilltop 10 kilometres along Ohauiti Rd.

They have re-landscaped the property, fitted a new commercial kitchen into the function centre and, best of all, they have obtained a resource consent to operate as an accommodation and functions venue.

Bella Vista Lodge and Function Centre, built nine years ago but hardly used since, is open for business again.

They are launching a website (www.bellavistalodge.co.nz) to attract guests.

 "It's such a top-class venue, and one of the biggest in the city. We couldn't believe it was there when we first saw it," said Mrs Gray.

"It hasn't had a lot of use and it's still a new property.

"We've looked at everything - it was an instant success when it first opened and we will make it work again."

The Bella Vista is a welcome addition to the city's straining network of conference and functions facilities.
