Illegal dumping costs

People who dump their rubbish illegally are costing the Western Bay District Council $60,000 a year.

Council utilities manager Kelvin Hill said there were a number of "hot spots" where people deliberately dumped household rubbish.

People who dump their rubbish illegally can be prosecuted. They face an instant $150 fine if caught.

Mr Hill said roving cameras were in place to catch those who dumped rubbish.
