Boats of all sizes flocked to Lake Rotoiti this weekend to be part of the annual Parade of Classic and Wooden Boats.

The Lake Rotoiti Classic and Wooden Boat Association's Parade of Classic and Wooden Boats was held on Saturday with 90 boats in the parade while many other boaties turned out to watch the display.

Lake Rotoiti Classic and Wooden Boat Association life member Lindsay Brighouse said it was a beautiful day which also featured the crew from the Arawa waka that went to Waitangi.

"It was a wonderful occasion, we had a record entry of 90 boats," Mr Brighouse.

"It was a bigger parade ... boats came from out-of-town and we had some new boats.

"It was a spectacular sight."

Boats assembled in the Okere arm on Lake Rotoiti before a blessing took place and the parade.

Mr Brighouse said the association had grown this year with more boats of all sizes joining.

He said festivities were held on the beach after the parade.
