Bay workers to don pink for a day

Cafe workers, lawyers, radiologists and councillors will don pink as part of a nationwide initiative to raise awareness of breast cancer.

More than 700 workplaces across New Zealand have signed up to take part in the second annual Pink for a Day event in support of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Already Bay Radiology, Western BoP District Council, Sharp Tudhope, Alimento Café and Cooney Lees Morgan Barristers and Solicitors have registered for Friday's event.

Employees at Pink for a Day workplaces are encouraged to wear pink and give a gold coin donation in support of breast cancer awareness, education and research. Many go the extra mile, giving prizes for creative costumes, decorating their workplace, running office raffles and organising pink breakfasts or morning teas.

Van Henderson, chief executive at the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation, said events like Pink for a Day play an important role in reminding women to be breast aware and go for mammograms from age 40.
