Bay builders up for national titles
Six local builders are vying for top honours in a competition that will honour the country's leading industry professionals.
Builders from Riordan Construction Limited, Shaw Builders Limited, Harwood Homes NZ Limited, Prestige Homes Limited, Home Builders BOP Limited and Peter Richards Builders Limited have been named as Gold Reserve finalists in the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau region for their renovation or creation of new homes.
They will now take on other regional Gold Reserve finalists in the 22nd annual Registered Master Builders PlaceMakers 2012 House of the Year competition.
Registered Master Builders Federation chief executive Warwick Quinn said Gold Reserve finalists were "the cream of the crop'' in the construction industry.
"Our builders take a lot of pride in their work and this is reflected in the outstanding workmanship and quality of the homes in the competition this year,'' he said.
The Gold Reserve finalists were selected from Gold Award winners in the 12 regional competitions throughout New Zealand during July and August.
The finalists' new home builds and renovations will now be re-judged over the next few months before the National Category, Lifestyle and Supreme Award winners are announced in November.
