Rotorua's BNZ has got behind The Daily Post Christmas Appeal for the Salvation Army foodbank.

It has set up a trolley in its branch at Rotorua Central mall for customers and other members of the public to donate non perishable food items to the appeal.

BNZ manager David Muir said they ran a similar collection last year and recently they held a cake stall for Rotorua 3-year-old Elliott Crimp who is recovering in Middlemore Hospital after being diagnosed with meningococcal C.

"Having food at Christmas is not that easy in today's economy. If we are able to provide a vehicle that enables people to donate then we are happy to do that,'' Mr Muir said.

The bank is also collecting donations of toys, books, stationery and soft toys for  the children's ward at Rotorua Hospital.

Meanwhile, donations to The Daily Post Christmas Appeal for the Salvation Army foodbank can also be made at our Hinemoa St office between 8am and 5pm on weekdays. People can donate money or non-perishable food.

Food donations can also be made at the Salvation Army's Community Ministries at Community House on Haupapa St.
