Bail for man accused of assaulting ex-Steamer

The man accused of assaulting former Steamers player, Simon Chisholm, has been remanded on bail without plea to re-appear in Tauranga District Court on October 29.

Uenuku Porena Peita, 22, a farmhand from the Lower Kaimai Range, faces one charge of injuring Mr Chisholm with reckless disregard for the safety of others.

Mr Chisholm was punched unconscious during a premier-grade match in July.
