Tourism Bay of Plenty has launched a "mates rates" campaign for Bay of Plenty locals.

The campaign runs from the 8th - 16th of December and gives locals a reason to get out and experience what the Bay of Plenty has to offer.

Tourism Bay of Plenty wants to encourage locals to "fly the flag" for local attractions with the many visitors we welcome each year.

This is just one of many initiatives to strengthen Bay of Plenty's position as a tourism location and promote what the Bay of Plenty has to offer.

Tourism Bay of Plenty general manager Rhys Arrowsmith said: "Over 3.1 Million visitor bed nights per year are spent with friends and Family in the Bay. By having our locals experience the attractions they become our best "cheerleaders" for the region after their personal experience.

"This is a great opportunity for locals to get out and enjoy their own backyard! We live in the Bay and love the Bay and now is our opportunity to learn more about what the Bay has to offer".

The offers will be advertised in the media and on Tourism Bay of Plenty's website:

Anyone can take up the offer, they just need to ring the attraction and book with proof that they are locals.  Some offers have specific terms and conditions.
