The NZ Windows Tauranga Twilight Athletics meeting was held in glorious conditions at the Tauranga Domain.

The highlight of the meeting was Tauranga Ramblers runner Joseph Miller winning the 100m, 200m and 400m sprint triple in outstanding times within the maximum allowable tail wind.

New Zealand's fastest man's time of 10.38s for the 100m was just outside his personal best of 10.36 but was the fastest time run on the domain track since it was opened in 2009.

Miller followed it up by running hot times of 20.94 in the 200m and 47.49 in the 400m to well and truly herald in the start of what could be a great year for the talented 20-year-old.

Molly Florence surprised in a high-quality field by taking out the 200m sprint in 12.09s.

The Lake City, Hamilton, runner, who trains on the Tauranga Domain track with coach Todd Blythe, had been off colour before the event and Blythe would not let her run the 400m.

Tauranga Ramblers president Malcolm Taylor says it was a gutsy run by her to beat Kristie Baillie.

"On the basis of the fastest times of the runners in the field, she was ranked number three but she got it done over Kristie, who was a placegetter in the senior nationals in the 100m and 200m.

"But Kristie got her back by beating Molly to win the women's 200m in 24.81s."
