Arrests made in Te Puna assault case
Police have arrested and charged three people in relation to an unprovoked and violent attack at a Te Puna home.
Three people were taken to hospital after 15 to 20 people, unknown to the victims, assaulted them at their family home on November 23.
About nine family members were gathered at the house where the offenders arrived armed with pipes, a baseball bat and what was described as a shotgun.
Detective Sergeant Iain Chapman said he was pleased arrests had been made and expected more to come.
"We're confident that we've got the key arrests," he said. "There's still more people that we would like to speak to. We'll be continuing the inquiry into who did what."
A Te Puna man in his 50s and a man and woman in their 20s will be appearing in Tauranga District Court on Thursday.
