Armed robbers still on the run

Tauranga police are continuing to investigate the armed robbery of the Welcome Bay Food Market.

The store was robbed about 6.30pm on Thursday, August 23.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said two males were masked and armed with pistols when they entered the shop.

The two men took an undisclosed sum of money from the tills, Mr Turner said.

The two men are described as being in in their late teens or 20s.

They were wearing hoodies and three-quarter length shorts with bandanas covering their faces.

After the pair robbed the Food Market, they ran in an easterly direction from the store to Johnson Reserve, near the intersection of James Cook Drive.

Tauranga Police wish to speak to anyone who saw the men before or after the robbery, or anyone else who may have information in relation to this robbery.
