Armed police make arrest in Gate Pa
A man has been arrested after armed police swooped in on a Greerton home yesterday afternoon.
Police arrested one man for possession of a firearm and burglary in Watling St, Gate Pa about 2pm.
A Bay of Plenty Times reader, who called the news line 0800 253 253, said he saw three males lying on the roadside with armed police standing over them.
Tauranga Senior Sergeant Mark Holmes said every police car was armed and officers could easily access firearms if the situation was necessary.
Mr Holmes said records showed only one man had been arrested following the incident.
