About 10 members of the armed offenders squad were spotted in residential Mount Maunganui this morning.

A Bay of Plenty Times reader saw the squad and a police dog coming out of Riverton Rd and heading back to three police cars which were parked on Campbell Rd about 1pm today.

A Tauranga police spokesperson said the armed offenders squad were scheduled for training today.
