Heather?s on target to see son shoot for Games glory

A GENEROUS act of kindness has enabled Heather Cuddihy to make a last-minute dash to Athens to watch her son Tim compete at the Olympic Games.

Tim, 17, is the reigning world junior archery champion and with Australian team-mates Simon Fairweather and David Barnes is rated among the medal hopes in the teams event.

Instead of trying to follow the progress of her son on television, Heather, a teacher at Middle Ridge State School, now will watch from the stands of the Olympic archery centre thanks to a donation from a school parent.

Friends and colleagues managed to pull the plans together inside a week, despite a few obstacles.

Flights in and out of Athens are at a premium, as is accommodation in the Olympic city.

But Heather's flight, accommodation and Olympic tickets have all been paid for.

She has never been overseas before and admitted to finding the idea quite daunting.

Tim was pleasantly surprised at the weekend when told his mother would be on hand to watch him compete.
