An elderly woman has been knocked over by a car reversing out of a driveway on Windsor Rd this morning at approximately 11.00am. She died at the scene.

A small section of Windsor Road is closed. 

Police is talking to witnesses at the moment.

Details of the deceased will not  be released until she has been identified and next of kin has been notified.

EARLIER: 11.54am:

A small section of Windsor Road is closed between Otumoetai College and Canberra Place after a person was hit and killed by a car at approximately 11.00 this morning.

A Bay of Plenty Times reporter said emergency services are still at the scene.

Neighbours heard sirens at 11am.

One ambulance has arrived and has not left yet. 

Police is talking to witnesses at the moment.

Ian Campion, head of road policing in the Western Bay of Plenty has just arrived.

EARLIER:

Emergency services are at the scene of an accident on Windsor Rd.

It has been confirmed by police that a person has been hit by a car and has not survived.

The road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Delays can be expected.
