A Tauranga teacher has appeared in Tauranga District Court today, facing a charge under the Prostitution Reform Act 2003.

Andrew Loader, who appeared before Community Magistrate Robyn Paterson, is accused of paying a 16-year-old girl to perform sexual services for him.

The Bay of Plenty Times successfully argued for the suppression of Loader's name and occupation to be lifted.

The name of the school Loader is employed by remains suppressed.

Loader was further bailed to re-appear in Tauranga District Court on January 14 for a judicial intervention hearing.
