The Campaign for Wool New Zealand (CWNZ) has just signed a further two-year contract with the global Campaign for Wool.

National Council of New Zealand Wool Interests, which manages the campaign, has endorsed the international plan focused on the concentrated global populations in the Northern Hemisphere, principally in Europe, the United States and Asia.

"The patronage of the Prince of Wales and other members of the royal family has provided a huge boost to the aim of creating a wool renaissance globally," CWNZ chairman Stephen Fookes says.

"We are now starting to see real evidence of increased demand at the consumer end, and this must eventually flow back to wool growers."

While the base funding for the campaign is collected by wool brokers and wool merchants from growers' sale lots, the wool grower-owned Primary Wool Cooperative has given financial support to the Campaign for Wool for its administration, as part of its policy to reinvest in activities for the industry's good.

This has allowed the campaign to structure its administrative and social media resources to capitalise on the success of the global Campaign for Wool programme, as well as roll out some specific New Zealand initiatives.

The Campaign for Wool is a global community of sheep farmers, retailers, designers, manufacturers and wool lovers united by the patronage of the Prince of Wales. The Campaign for Wool aims to educate about the incredible benefits and versatility of wool in fashion, furnishings and everyday life.

This in turn supports many small businesses and local farmers whose livelihoods depend on the wool industry around the world.
