Te Puke volunteer firefighters have been called out 65 times in the first 72 days of the year.
That number of calls was not reached until May 2012.
They spent more than an hour fighting a 15m by 5m tree and scrub fire on MacLoughlin Drive about 1.45pm yesterday.
