Deputy Prime Minister Bill English today opened the $13.5 million environmentally-friendly Sharp Tudhope Building on the corner of Devonport Rd and 1st Ave in Tauranga.

Designed by Tauranga-based Jasmax and being built by Watts and Hughes Construction, the 2500 sq m building is about to be the first in Tauranga to be credited with a four-star rating by the Green Building Council.

The opening represented another confidence booster for Tauranga following the opening of the city's first business centre, the $30 million ANZ Centre, nearly three weeks ago.

The ANZ Centre on the corner of Cameron Rd and Elizabeth St was an 8500 sq m five-level building.
