PICTURE JOHN BORREN: Krystal Walsh

PICTURE JOHN BORREN: Krystal Walsh's car has been taken off the road after she was stopped at a police checkpoint outside Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.

Krystal Walsh is one of the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic students slapped with police fines on Tuesday last week.

Krystal, a fitness student, had bought her car in Taupo three days earlier and had driven it to Tauranga in time to begin her polytechnic course at the Windemere campus.

It was Krystal's second day in class when she was stopped at the police checkpoint.

Her new car did not have a warrant of fitness, resulting in a $150 fine.
