Deserving Kobie's all smiles with his new bike

The smile could not be wiped from Jackson Robinson's face as he watched the new owner of his bike ride away.

Jackson won a colouring competition at Columbus Coffee in Bethlehem last week. First prize was a bike worth about $300.

Jackson had received a new bike for his 9th birthday in November and said if he won the competition, he would give the bike to a child who needed it more than him.

He said he wanted another child to feel the same pleasure that he did from his bike.

So Jackson and his mother Jan put a note in the Bay of Plenty Times asking people to write to them if they knew a child who was deserving of a new bike.

Kath Sticklings, nominated her grandson Kobie.

She wrote to Jackson without the knowledge of Kobie or his mother Megan and said it took her a few days to get up the courage to write.
