Debtor website won't budge on Clarkson 'wanted' listing

The website that named and shamed former Tauranga MP Bob Clarkson as an alleged "dirty debtor" is standing by the listing.

Mr Clarkson was listed on the Dirty Debtors website by his nephew, Tauranga accountant Ian Stevenson, who alleges he is owed almost $315,000 for "pre-approved" work done in 2004.

The listing remains on the website, which has been defended by company director Vikki Sisson.

"Dirty Debtors is New Zealand's leading debtor website and stands by the listing by Ian Stevenson concerning debts owed to him." 

In an email response to Bay of Plenty Times' questions, Mrs Sisson said the site was a facilitator of information that  was free to view, but said users must register on the website before listing their debtor. "By agreeing to the terms and indemnity, the user agrees that all information posted is true and correct.
